Windows: A Visualization of the Creative Process

Title: Windows

Artist: Brittany Anna Wittmeier

Soft / pastel chalk

I remember when I was brainstorming for "Windows" I was thinking of how some Artists use one of their own works of art as their theme picture or profile picture (whatever you want to call it) and some use a photo of themselves as their main picture. So I thought I'd combine the best of both together all tied in with a key theme. I wanted this to encompass the main element of being an Artist: the creative process. So I used a picture of myself as reference for the facial part of "Windows" but I didn't want to use my whole face. I thought, "I don't want to be known for my looks, I have substance!" and I wanted to show it. So I chose to show the eyes because they are the windows to the soul, right? Then I used many strokes of different coloured pastel chalk and made them appear as if they were coming from my mind and my eyes in a nebulous myriad of beautifully entangled hues, So as to visualize how true creativity pours out through the soul and the mind.
